The PA Department of Environmental Protection is proposing new regulations that will update existing rules for drilling, casing, cementing, testing, monitoring, and plugging of oil and gas wells. The new regulations will also update rules for protecting public and private water supplies.
The Office of Environmental Advocate and other DEP Programs have prepared a plain language summary of the proposed regulations in order to make them easier to understand and encourage public participation. A sample letter to facilitate the submission of public comments has also been prepared. (See pdf file below.)
All public comments must be received by August 9, 2010.
